You Like Me…Really Like Me!
Feeling grateful for so many new friends here, for sincere feedback and compliments from better writers who could have kept scrolling.
Everyday there are so many posts to read, some we scroll past, some reach out and grab us. Often I take time to read someone, but I don’t always have a comment. Thoughtful feedback matters so very much here. It’s okay to read and move on sometimes.
Every word you write has been written before, but your thought is a creation bursting from within.
Political views, witchcraft, recipes, sobriety may not be my thing, but the rhythm and rhyme of words will always get my attention. I remember my husband teasing when I read his Sports Illustrated; I’m not a sports person, but I know it takes word play and guardians of language to create well-written pieces. ( shame on SI letting top shelf writers go 😠!!)
Now as I’m near 100 subscribers and realize there are writers I look for each day plus new voices that pull me in; I’m grateful to those who take the time to read me.
Even with my history as a reporter, writing coach in the public schools and a college instructor of writing skills… I welcome the chance to learn from others. To use more humor, to seamlessly combine random topics, to better weave sentences into meaningful paragraphs.
This may not be a pretty presentation…but it’s from my heart. Means so much that these and
and those who email/message me have taken time to respond, thank, praise or let me know a piece I wrote meant something to them.Sending great big hugs to all! 🤗🤗🤗
Joan, you are the soul of kindness. Thank you so much for this lovely, heartfelt message. And no, there aren’t “better” writers on Substack. You are a gem.
Beautiful! A true celebration.
